Almost 2.5 tonnes of naturally occuring uranium are missing from a location in Libya that is not under government control, according to UN nuclear inspectors.

IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi informed the organization’s member states that inspectors discovered 10 barrels containing uranium ore concentrate “were not present as previously disclosed” on Tuesday.

Without elaborating on the location, the IAEA stated that it will carry out additional actions “to explain the circumstances surrounding the removal of the nuclear material and its current position”.
