300,000 customers affected as financial service firm is hit by cyberattack
A “sophisticated and nasty hack” has recently affected the data of hundreds of thousands of clients, according to Latitude Financial, has been revealed.
In a statement to the ASX on Thursday, the major Australian financial provider provided facts regarding the cyber-breach.
In the cyberattack, some 103,000 identity documents—of which more than 97% are duplicates of driver’s licenses—and 225,000 customer records were taken.
Latitude, which listed on the ASX in 2021, reported that over the previous few of days, “unusual activity on its systems” was discovered.
The financial service’s “major vendor” is thought to have been the source of the activity.
