According to a survey by the law firm Herbert Smith Freehills, nine out of 10 Australian businesses follow their employees online.

According to the survey, 90% of businesses use software on computers and phones that are provided to their employees to keep tabs on their actions.

Peter Holland, a professor at Swinburne University, claimed that workplace surveillance was “quite pervasive” at the moment.

“You don’t truly realise that they put this thing on your computer,” he remarked.

“Either they’re monitoring the movement of your mouse or they’re taking snapshot pictures of you on the computers to see if you’re actually at the site and doing your work.”
